IN THE NEWS: When UCI Health completed the acquisition of four hospitals and associated ambulatory locations of Tenet Healthcare’s Pacific Coast Network this March, it marked the beginning of an historic expansion of access to academic healthcare in the region.

Chad T. Lefteris, president and CEO of UCI Health, spoke to the Seal Beach Event-News Enterprise about how the purchase will benefit visitors and residents throughout southern California.

“When we looked at these facilities, if you look across the map, where they sit and we sit historically, it’s like a puzzle piece that comes together perfectly. Where they have access where we have access together, it completes a whole network.”

As Orange County’s only academic health system, UCI Health plays a unique and critical role providing healthcare in the region. This acquisition builds on that commitment to improve health in communities by expanding unrestricted healthcare access for more people in Southern California.

The acquisition adds 858 inpatient beds that, when paired with the 459 licensed beds at UCI Medical Center in Orange, strengthens the ability of UCI Health to meet the continually increasing demand for inpatient beds for a range of intensive and critical care needs.
