Physician Ratings Guide

UCI Health is committed to providing the information you need to make decisions about your healthcare and the physicians who will provide it. As part of that commitment, we publish our providers’ patient satisfaction ratings online.

This guide will help you understand how we capture and report our patient experience ratings.

About our survey

UCI Health is focused on providing an exceptional experience in every care interaction. All ratings are submitted by actual patients and verified by a leading company in the patient satisfaction industry. We hold ourselves to the highest standards by partnering with NRC, an independent patient satisfaction company that provides the technology to display ratings and comments on our provider profiles.

Do you post all comments?

UCI Health is committed to transparency. That means we post all relevant feedback whether it’s positive or negative. However, we do not post comments that are libelous, profane or those that risk the privacy of our patients.

What do the ratings mean?

Our provider ratings are an average of all responses to provider-related questions on our outpatient satisfaction survey. Star ratings are calculated on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the highest score. Verbatim comments collected during our survey are displayed in their entirety. Patients are not identified to protect their confidentiality and privacy.

Ratings and comments reflect a rolling 12-month period.

Why don't we see patient ratings and comments for every provider?

We survey only those patients who see UCI Health doctors in one of our licensed outpatient medical practices. Some physicians may be excluded if they practice only in a hospital setting or the emergency department.

A provider’s rating is only posted after we receive a minimum of 30 completed surveys.

Can anyone complete a survey or post a comment about a provider?

No. Only patients seen by a UCI Health provider at one of our outpatient medical practices may be selected to receive a survey. The results are based entirely from patients who have been treated by that provider.

How is patient information protected?

Patient names are not displayed in the online ratings or with review comments. All personally identifiable patient information is removed in advance.
