HMO, POS or MA plan members
If you are a member of a health maintenance organization (HMO), point-of-service (POS) or Medicare Advantage (MA) plans, you may be treated at UC Irvine Health when the following requirements are met:
- You are assigned to a medical group or individual practice association (IPA) that holds a contract with UC Irvine Health.
- You receive a referral from your primary care physician and your medical group or IPA authorizes care by UC Irvine Health.

If you have any questions about your insurance, you and your family members are welcome to speak with a Patient Services representative in the Thomas & Misa Yuen Admitting Suite. This person will serve as your liaison.

UC Irvine Health has discounted payment and charity care policies. You may also qualify for financial assistance through government programs.
People who do not have insurance or who have inadequate insurance and meet certain low-income and moderate income requirements may be eligible for Medi-Cal or California Children’s Services programs or may qualify for discounted payment or charity care. For more information, contact Patient Financial Services at 714-456-6324 or 888-456-7003 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on weekdays.
If you do not have insurance or coverage through a program such as Medi-Cal or Medicare, you will be asked to pay the estimated charges for your stay on admission. You may pay with cash, personal check, MasterCard, Visa, American Express or Discover Card.
