IN THE NEWS: Terry A. Belmont, CEO of UC Irvine Medical Center and Dr. Richard Van Etten, director of UC Irvine Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center, will serve as co-chairmen of the California Southland Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s 2015 Orange County Light the Night® Walk, the society's annual fundraising event held each fall to find cures and provide access to treatments for blood cancer patients.

Light the Night Walk participants carry illuminated lanterns — white for survivors, red for supporters and gold in memory of loved ones lost to cancer. Anyone big, small, young or old can shine a light on the importance of finding cures and ensuring access to treatments for blood cancer patients.

“Supporting Light the Night is a great way to build team spirit among employees and raise critical funds for blood cancer research,” said Belmont. “I am honored to serve as the chair and look forward to encouraging local businesses and corporations to join me in supporting The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society by participating in Light the Night”

This year, the Orange County Light the Night Walk will be held Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015 at Angel Stadium.
