UC Irvine honors burn center director

March 10, 2012

IN THE NEWS: The Orange County Register took note of the memorial Dr. Marianne Cinat’s family, friends and colleagues held at UC Irvine Medical Center last week:

UC Irvine has honored the memory of Dr. Marianne Cinat—the prominent Orange County burn-injury surgeon found dead in her backyard pool in June—by creating an annual lecture and a burn victim’s fund in her name.

The school also dedicated a tree and a plaque in her honor in the Healing Garden in front of UC Irvine Douglas Hospital in Orange.

“Marianne Cinat dedicated herself to healing those with the most horrific and complex injuries, and her skill and compassion touched the lives of hundreds of burn survivors and their families,” stated Dr. Michael J. Stamos, chair of UC Irvine’s Department of Surgery. “She remains an inspiration to those patients and her colleagues.”
