‘Gentle’ lasers for use on wrinkles and sun damage

IN THE NEWS: The Orange County Register‘s “In Your Face” blog discussed the actress Gwyneth Paltrow’s apparent use of laser treatments for wrinkles:

Dr. Christopher Zachary, professor and chair of the Department of Dermatology at the University of California, Irvine, said laser treatments can work together with toxins to achieve a variety of fixes, from removing blotches to shrinking pores to getting rid of the early wrinkling that comes with aging and excessive sun exposure.

Zachary said that lasers can be so gentle on the skin that some are being developed for home use. “So Ms. Paltrow can sit at home now,” he said, “and rejuvenate her face with a hand-held ‘Fraxel’ device while watching reruns of her old movies!”
