May 17, 2011
Dr. Gerald Maguire
Dr. Gerald Maguire, founder and director of UC Irvine's Kirkup Center for the Medical Treatment of Stuttering, will give a keynote address Saturday, May 21, at the 9th World Congress for People Who Stutter, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Recognized as an international leader in the field, he recently published a book, Without Hesitation: Speaking to the Silence & the Science of Stuttering, that explores the medical condition from an insider's perspective. The Kirkup Center is currently the only facility in the world devoted exclusively to pharmacologic treatment of stuttering and is heading a nationwide clinical trial of the first medication developed specifically to treat stuttering.
