Pioneers in technology
Dr. J. Stuart Nelson, medical director of the Beckman Laser Institute & Medical Clinic, developed a cryogen spray cooling device that has revolutionized the use of lasers to treat disfiguring birthmarks. The device, which has been incorporated into more than 20,000 laser systems worldwide, makes it possible to treat these vascular conditions without damaging adjacent normal skin.
Studies have shown that early laser treatment of these birthmarks dramatically improves clearance of the lesions.
