Radiology Services

Radiologists save lives by locating and describing conditions, which enables physicians to treat their patients with a better understanding of their specific physical ailment or disorder. Surgeons rely on radiologists to pinpoint problems and guide them through complex procedures.

Our collaborative UC Irvine Health radiology team specializes in women’s and abdominal imaging, using the most technologically advanced equipment to ensure an accurate diagnosis and, ultimately, better treatment for you.

  • Our radiologists collaborate across teams, with oncologists, surgeons and medical engineers. This has resulted in pioneering laser-based techniques that have improved early detection of breast cancer.
  • Our interventional radiologists work closely with our surgical specialists to provide minimally invasive treatments for patients with kidney, lung cancer and other cancers.
  • We offer 3-D mammography, a groundbreaking screening and diagnostic exam that can detect breast cancer earlier — and with greater accuracy — than standard digital mammography. Learn more about three-dimensional breast screening ›
  • We have a dedicated breast magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) unit on site as part of our partnership with Aurora Breast MRI.
  • We have the region’s only intraoperative MRI, which produces highly detailed, 3-D images of the brain during all phases of an operation.
  • Our radiologists provide imaging and diagnostic services at UC Irvine Medical Center, which is home to Orange County’s only Level I trauma center and primary stroke center, as well as at Gottschalk Medical Plaza in Irvine and at the VA Long Beach Health System.

Our highly skilled team of radiologists diagnose and help treat a broad spectrum of conditions, including:

  • Arthritis
  • Uterine fibroids
  • Heart and lung disease
  • Strokes
  • Liver tumors
  • Breast cancer
  • Infertility
  • Abdominal problems

We use the most advanced imaging and diagnostic technology available to diagnose and treat these and other conditions.
