New Employee Resources

HR Connect

HR Connect is our secure Human Resource Information System (HRIS). Human Resources and UC Irvine Medical Center employees and managers use this system to process and store HR and employee information, such as forms, policies, employee data, job openings and annual performance documents.

Your Windows login provides you access. If you need assistance with HR Connect, call the help line at 714-456-5565 or email hrconnecthelp@uci.edu.

The API Time and Attendance System

The API Time and Attendance System is used to badge in for work and track attendance. By using your login and password given to you during the New Employee Orientation, you may log into this system to monitor your badging, view your accumulated sick and vacation time and request time off.

Benefits

UC Irvine Medical Center employees are eligible for a variety of health and welfare benefits as described in the New Employee Orientation.

In addition to health and welfare benefits, UC Irvine provides 13 paid holidays per year, a generous vacation leave (up to 24 days per year, based on length of service), sick leave, a paid time off program and other paid and unpaid leave provisions.

As a new employee, you will begin to accrue 15 days of vacation in your first year for full-time appointments (pro-rated for part-time appointments).

Collective Bargaining Agreements

Many positions within the UC system are represented by a bargaining unit. Speak with your manager or supervisor to determine whether your position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement.

All agreements are posted on the Labor Relations website. Employees who are not covered by a collective bargaining agreement are encouraged to read the staff personnel policies ›

Employee Communications

Employees at UC Irvine Medical Center receive a variety of communication through email, flyers and MyToday. MyToday contains resources and information on events at the medical center, the campus and the community at large. You can also view the cafeteria's daily menu and learn about gift shop sales and events.

Employee Perks

UC Irvine offers many opportunities for relaxation and enjoyment at both the medical center and on campus.

Employees can visit the campus for a concert, watch a play, attend a sporting event or participate in a variety of wellness and fitness activities at the medical center and on campus.

Intranet

Most computers at UC Irvine Medical Center have the medical center intranet set as the home page. The intranet is accessed by computers logged on within the medical center community. It provides important information, the latest news and employee resources.

In order to access the Intranet from another computer, you will be asked to log on to the network, using the logon you were given during your first day of orientation. If you need assistance obtaining that information, call the IS Help Desk at 714-456-3333.

Payroll

The payroll website includes a variety of resources, including forms for manual time correction and direct deposit, definitions of payroll deductions, the payroll/holiday schedule, an explanation of how to read your earnings statement and much more.

All staff are encouraged to meet with their manager to discuss pay practices for the department, such as holiday pay, overtime accrual, comp time accrual, etc. These guidelines are also defined in the collective bargaining agreements or staff personnel policies that cover each position.

Medical Center Policies

As employees of the University of California, we are required to read and understand certain policies that may affect our work environment or may give us additional information to ensure we are informed. Please take the time to review these policies and discuss any questions or concerns with your manager or supervisor.

Wellness and Work-Life Balance

Balancing work life with your personal life is important to us at the university. We provide a number of resources for staff to promote wellness, healthy living and ergonomics at work.

One such resource is Guidance Resources, a referral website and toll-free number for faculty and staff.
