Dr. Kari J. Nelson is a board-certified UC Irvine Health radiologist who specializes in vascular and interventional radiology. Her focus is on the treatment of vascular disease and vascular malformations, as well as minimally invasive cancer treatments.
Nelson obtained her medical degree at the Medical College of Wisconsin. She completed a residency in radiology at the University of Virginia and a fellowship in vascular and interventional radiology at UC San Diego.
Nelson began her medical career as an assistant professor at UC San Diego School of Medicine. She subsequently entered private practice in Santa Fe, NM, followed by a managed-care practice in the San Francisco Bay area. She returned to her native Orange County in 2013 to join UC Irvine Health as an attending physician in vascular and interventional radiology while completing a fellowship in cardiovascular and thoracic imaging.
