Dr. Jeffry T. Nahmias is a board-certified UCI Health trauma and critical care surgeon whose clinical interests include emergency surgery and complex abdominal wall reconstruction. He serves as medical director of the surgical intensive care unit (SICU) at UCI Medical Center.

Nahmias earned his medical degree at Ross University School of Medicine in Portsmouth, Dominica. After a residency in general surgery at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester, he completed a fellowship in surgical critical care at UCI School of Medicine. He also holds a master’s degree in health professions education from the University of Michigan.

Nahmias actively participates in local and national research studies on trauma prevention and care for the critically ill or injured. He currently serves as chair of the Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma's multicenter trials research committee.

He also teaches community “Stop the Bleed” classes to educate the public on how to control bleeding wounds in the event of a traumatic accident, mass casualty, active-shooter incident or other emergency situations.
