Dr. Samuel J. Klempner is a board-certified medical oncologist and hematologist who specializes in the care of patients with gastric, esophageal and thoracic malignancies at the Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center. He is involved in the design and execution of clinical trials at the National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center.

A translational researcher with a focus on early phase clinical trials, Klempner works on targeted molecular therapies and the identification of patient and tumor characteristics that identify patient subgroups likely to be sensitive or resistant to certain treatments. He also has published several articles and abstracts, as well as two book chapters related to his work.
