Dr. Cory M. Hugen is a board-certified UC Irvine Health urologist who specializes in the management of urologic and retroperitoneal cancers.
Hugen earned his medical degree at Loyola University Chicago, where he completed his internship and a residency in urology. Following completion of his residency, Hugen served four years as a urologist in the U.S. Air Force stationed in Texas, where he was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal and the Afghanistan Campaign Medal. Next he completed a fellowship in urologic oncology at the Keck School of Medicine at USC, where he received the Fellowship Teaching Award while working on a master's degree in clinical, biomedical and translational investigations.
Hugen's clinical interests include bladder cancer, testicular cancer, kidney cancer, adrenal tumors, prostate cancer, retroperitoneal tumors and robot-assisted surgery. He is an active researcher who has presented his work at several national meetings and in many publications and book chapters.
Hugen is a diplomate of the American Board of Urology and a member of the Society of Urologic Oncology, the American Urological Association, the Southwest Oncology Group (SWOG), and the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.
